Our Mission:
Our coalition is dedicated to raising awareness of the dangers of secondhand smoke and the need for a smoke-free St. Louis. A 100% comprehensive smoke-free policy is the simplest and most effective way to protect our region's citizens and employees from the dangers of secondhand smoke exposure.
Why:
Secondhand smoke exposure contributes to over 53,000 deaths of nonsmokers each year in the U.S.
In 2006, the U.S. Surgeon General stated, "The debate is over. The science is clear. Secondhand smoke is not a mere annoyance but a serious health hazard." The landmark report confirmed that exposure to secondhand smoke causes cancer, heart disease and serious lung ailments.
Everyone has the right to breathe smoke-free indoor air.
